Iona Danald - Dirty Laundry

MYR 2,000.00

Year: 2020

Medium: Weaving of washing lines and safety pins

Size: 140 x 63.5 cm

Artist’s statement:

The patterns of chaos and confusion are translated through weaving in Dirty Laundry. The complicated relationship between the warp and weft depicts the relationship between mother and child. The choice of Malaysia’s iconic washing lines is representative of a domesticated parent figure and the use of safety pins portrays a cry for help, attention and security. Reclaiming everyday essential household items to tell my own story is my act of airing out my dirty laundry.
